La Veta Residence

With 360 degree views, this residence is all about framing the views. The tall parapets dividing various parts of the residence mimic the stone land forms in La Veta known as the “dikes”.

The contemporary structure is built into the slope using ICFs, or insulated concrete forms. The concrete walls store heat, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature in the height of the summer as well as in the cold, high altitude winters. The south wall of glass allows the sun to heat the space in winter and opens completely to the adjacent patio on warm days.
